Filipinos
Filipinos by nature are nice and
hospitable people. In general they are
very welcoming and easy going. They
always share their food if there is enough and are kind to help you with
directions if they speak English and feel confident enough to speak in English. They have adopted an attitude of “Bahala na” which means, whatever may happen
will. If it very characteristic of
Filipinos to smile and attempt to keep a positive affect even in times of
strife. The people are used to Typhoons
wiping away homes and business, death, malnutrition, earthquakes, etc. But they have resilient perspectives and will
keep moving. Filipinos are hardworking
and very creative. Many things here used
on a daily basis are created from recycle materials i.e., outside trashcans are
old truck tires, children make rugs out of old shirts, ladders are made from
bamboo and so are gates. Everything will
be used more than once until it completely has no more use. Family is highly valued and large in
size. The average family has about 4
children with many of the children being step-stairs babies (born one after the
other). Filipinos are very diverse in
their features. In a spectrum some are
very light in complexion and others very dark; some have very curly, wavy or
bone straight hair. They have a mix of
Malay, Spanish and Chinese.
